Knoxville Residential Internet Coverage

The city of Knoxville is one of the most well-known in Tennessee, currently home to almost 200,000 people and many successful business enterprises. Quite a few local and national internet service companies serve this area.

AT&T, with its fiber network and DSL network, serves the entirety of Knoxville. The coverage map reaches neighborhoods like Oakwood, Beaumont, Morningside, and Park City.

The Frontier Communications network is slightly smaller, primarily serving the northwestern portion of the city. This includes the neighborhoods of Mechanicsville and College Hills.

Cable provider Xfinity not only reaches all of Knoxville, it spreads its network into outlying communities.

Through its rival Charter, service is only available in the part of Knoxville that lies south of the Tennessee River. This includes South Knoxville and Old Sevier. On the flip side, WOW! brings consistent coverage to western Knoxville, offering service to Fort Sanders, Mechanicsville, Beaumont, College Hills, and Oakwood.

Telephone and Data Systems covers the far northern areas of Belle Morris and Old North Knoxville.

I've never had an internet provider that is down for a whole week. TDS is constantly having issues and will go for whole days with no service. People can't function in their jobs with this inconsistency.

Expensive and constant cable outages! For no apparent reason! When I call them, I speak to monkeys who are useless to talk to, as all they do is recite a given script! I do NOT recommend this cable service!!

I work remotely and have, for 3 business days in a row, "unplanned outages" that last about 2.5 hours each. I'll get a text saying it will be about an hour outage and then end up using my mobile hotspot (not Xfinity), which is expensive to run and slows down my work day. If there was another provider in my area, I would definitely leave Xfinity. I can't even talk to a person about my concerns, I called 3 times in the last 48 hours and they just want you to use their bot to solve the issue. This bot can't even get me to a live agent. it's a waste of my time and extremely frustrating.
